The Association for Women in Mathematics has selected Morgan Opie as the Runner-up for the 2014 Alice T. Schafer Prize for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics. The prize is named for a former President of the AWM who made an outstanding effort over many years in support of women in mathematics. The prize carries a cash award of $250. Ruth Charney, Professor of Mathematics at Brandeis University and AWM President, writes that the Alice T. Schafer Prize selection committee "was impressed by the high quality of the nominees this year, and it is a fine measure of your achievement that you emerged as the Runner-up." The Prize is to be awarded at the January 2014 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore.
