Ordinary Differential Equations
Math 331 sec. 3, Fall 2009
There are two kinds of homework:
WeBWorK,
and assigned homework/quizzes from the textbook.
WeBWorK
Here's a link to the WeBWorK
assignments for our class.
Although it seems pretty straight-forward, there is a WeBWorKWiKi!
Two things to watch out for:
-
Many questions have several parts: you need to complete all
of them in the allowed number of attempts.
-
Numerical answers need to be accurate to within five decimal
places to count as correct.
HW/Quizzes
The assigned homework is from the text, Boyce &
DiPrima, 9th ed. (or 8th ed.) I won't collect the homework, but
will base a quiz on each of the assignments. These quizzes are open
book: the preferred method of doing them is to copy the completed
solutions from your homework!
-
Homework 1. : Chap. 1 & Section 2.2,
due Tuesday, 9/22;
solutions and
quiz.
-
Homework 2. : Chapter 2, due Thursday,
10/1;
solutions and
quiz.
-
Homework 3. : More of Chapter 2, due
Thursday, 10/15;
solutions no
quiz: I'll take one of these for the midterm though.
-
Homework 4. : Chapter 3, due Tuesday,
11/3;
solutions and
quiz.
-
Homework 5. : More of Chapter 3, due
Thursday, 11/12;
-
Homework 6. : Chapter 6, due Tuesday,
12/1;
-
Homework 7. : Chapter 7, due Thursday,
12/10;
Due dates may change as the pace of the class varies.
The quizzes will take place on or after the posted due date. I
will be posting solutions to the HW sets and copies of the quizzes
after they've been completed. This means no makeup quizzes!
As the flu is expected to be bad this year, I'll drop the lowest quiz
grade.
