Section policies
The main course website covers the essential course policies, including the course requirements, weekly schedule, and suggested homework problems.
Important:
- You are required to purchase a WebAssign access in order to complete the homework. You can purchase access from the Textbook Annex when you buy your book, or you can buy access directly from WebAssign online. It's a little bit cheaper to buy from the Textbook annex. You can find more information about this here
.
- Graphing calculators are recommended but not required. If you own a graphing calculator, great. If you don't own a graphing calculator but think you might need one, then the recommended model is the TI-89 Titanium. For help with using your calculator go
here.
Grading
Your overall course grade will be determined by your performance on three midterm exams, a final exam, homework and quizzes.
- There are three midterms and each one will count for 20% of your final grade. For exams #1 and #3 you may have a calculator and one page of notes. You MAY NOT use a calculator or notes for exam #2. You can find old exams here.
- The final exam is worth 24% of the course grade and is comprehensive. One page of notes will be allowed. Stay tuned for more info about the final later in the semester.
- Homework will be completed online through WebAssign. However, a list of suggested homework problems from the text can be seen here. Homework is vitally important to the learning process and is worth 8% of your final grade. so DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
- Quizzes will be given by the T/A during recitation and will be loosely based on the assigned homework. Quizzes will be handwritten, closed notes and without calculator. Quiz scores will determine 8% of your final grade.
