Calculus: Early Transcendentals (5th Edition) by James Stewart.


Course Description:


Techniques of calculus in two and three dimensions. Vectors, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, line integrals.
Prerequisites: Math 132.


Grading Policy:


5% for attendance,
20% for homework,
25% for midterm exam I,
25% for midterm exam II,
25% for the final exam.

Attendance:


Attendance will be recorded by what homeworks are turned it. If you do not turn in a homework, but attend the class anyway, it is your responsibility to inform me about your attendance by the end of the class. Informing me later does not count. Attendance will not be kept before the add/drop date of Sept 17.


Homework:


Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis and will be collected almost every Thursday (one possible Tuesday, TBA). The homeworks are due at the beginning of your section. The assignments will also appear on this web page. No late homework will be accepted. In particular, HW for students in the morning Section 6 will not be graded if they are turned in during the afternoon Section 8 The two lowest scores will be dropped. This includes missed homeworks.

You are advised to attempt all assigned problems. The grading will be based on the detailed solutions of a couple of problems (you don't know which ones) and the overall effort in attempting all other problems.
