• In West Hartford, Connecticut in April 2002 with my Israeli cousin, Shachar Mendelowitz from Herzlia, who was attending a robotics competition at Temple University. Shachar's great-grandfather Sholem and my grandfather Yosef were brothers. The family was separated in 1923 when along with a third brother Aharon, Yosef emigrated to America from Parczew, Poland with my grandmother and their infant daughter, my mother. The family was reunited in 1986 when Alison, Melissa, Michael, and I, then living in Jerusalem, were visited by Milton, the son of Aharon, who told me that I have relatives in Netanya, Israel, whose existence was completely unknown to me.
