Need to add or change sections of Math 132?

  • Do this through Spire. (Be sure you click the little “View All Sections” legend near the top of the list so that you are viewing all sections, not just the first few.)
  • You first have to drop the section in which you’re already enrolled before Spire allows you to enroll in another one.
  • There are no waiting lists for closed Math 132 sections.
  • If the only section not conflicting with the courses in which you are already enrolled is one that is already closed because it is full, try to find somebody else who wants to change sections in the other direction. Then agree to do your two section changes essentially simultaneously, before a third party squeezes in.
  • If all else fails, look here.

Questions about whether you should be taking Math 132?

Required textbook and WebAsign on-line homework system

As in Math 131 last Fall, we will be using the new sixth edition of the text. It is available in an inexpensive paper-bound edition custom-made for UMass Amherst.

The WebAssign on-line homework system is required in all Math 132 lecture sections. You are required to buy an access code for WebAssign. The code you used for Math 131 will not work for 132, so you will need a new one.

If you already own the textbook, just buy WebAssign access. If you don’t, then buy the textbook+WebAssign package.

The textbook, the textbook+WebAssign package, and a separate  WebAssign access coupon  are available at the campus Textbook Annex. If you need WebAssign access and the Textbook Annex no longer has the package or separate access coupons, you may purchase access directly at the WebAssign web site, webassign.net.

You must enter your access code into WebAssign no later than February 10.
