Math 132: About exams

Mid-semester exams (20% each). Dates listed are definite!

Locations will be announced later and posted on the Exams page.

Exam 1 (20%)

Thursday, February 19

7:00–8:30 p.m.

Exam 2 (20%)

Thursday, March 26

7:00–8:30 p.m.

Exam 3 (20%)

Thursday, April 23

7:00–8:30 p.m.

For all exams (including the final exam) except Exam 2, you may use your calculator. But calculators may not be shared during these exams, and no computers are allowed.

For all exams (including the final exam) except Exam 2, you may use a “cheat sheet”—one piece of paper no larger than 8.5" by 11" with whatever information you desire—along with whatever information you may store in your calculator. Otherwise, exams are “closed-book”.

If another officially scheduled exam conflicts with a Math 132 exam, or in certain other circumstances, you may qualify to take a make-up exam the same time but the evening before the scheduled exam. No make-up exam will be given just to accommodate travel plans.  See the exam make-up policy.

The schedule for make-up exams is:

Exam 1 make-up

Wednesday, February 18

7:00–8:30 p.m.

Exam 2 make-up

Wednesday, March 25

7:00–8:30 p.m.

Exam 2 make-up

Wednesday, April 22

7:00–8:30 p.m.

Final exam (24%*)

The final exam will be given at the officially-scheduled 2-hour time slot time during the final exam period:

    Tuesday, May 19, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
    Boyden Gym (3rd floor)

No make-ups for the final exam will be given just in order to suit your convenience, so make your travel plans accordingly.

There are standard procedures to handle any official final exam conflict—another exam at the same time as the Math 132 final, of having three finals the same day with the Math 132 final being in the middle. See the Exams page and the Registrar’s web site.

What to bring to exams

  • Your official UMass student ID card
  • A supply of pencils and an eraser, or pens
  • A graphing calculator and extra batteries—except at Exam 2
  • A one-page “cheat sheet” you prepared—except at Exam 2

Special accommodations for exams

Students certified by Disability Services as requiring special accommodation for an exam should notify, and present appropriate documentation to, their instructor no later than two weeks before the exam date.
