General information: This is the link for Math 233 Section 08 only. Textbook: Calculus: Early Transcendentals 6e, Volume 2 (6th Edition) by James Stewart. Customized version for University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Cengage Learning, 2008. This is a paperback version of the 6th edition. Make sure you have the CORRECT EDITION and VOLUME of the textbook.

Course Description: Techniques of calculus in two and three dimensions. Vectors, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, line integrals. Prerequisites: Math 132.

Grading Policy: 15% for homework.
                            10% for quizzes.
                            25% midterm exam I.
                            25% midterm exam II.
                            25% for the final exam.

Exams: There will be two midterms, and one final. The following dates and times are likely to be correct, but are contingent upon room assignments from the scheduling office. Further information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
 
         Midterm I:   March 5 (Thursday), 7-9pm. Location: GSMN 64
         Midterm II: April 16 (Thursday), 7-9pm. Location: Totman Gym
         Final Exam: May 14 (Thursday), 1:30-3:30pm. Location: Boyden Gym.

Homework: Homeworks are to be done using the online WebAssign homework system. These consist of problems directly from the text, sometimes modified to fit the WebAssign format. Due dates will be listed in WebAssign. Please be advised that you will NOT be able to submit your work past due dates, so do NOT wait until the last minute. Two lowest scores will be dropped.

Quizzes: There will be a total of 5 to 6 quizzes (usually on Wednesdays). Information will be posted through the link on the left when available. No make-up quizzes will be given. However, the lowest score will be dropped.

Attendence: Attendence and participation are important for your success in this course. Frequent absence or active class participation will be reflected in your grade, one way or the other.
