My main area of
study is Number Theory: I am particularly interested in elliptic
curves, extensions with restriced ramification, and special values of
L-functions. My research is supported by a grant from the NSF.
Preprints, curriculum vitae, and other information, such as a
description of my research, can be found in my Research Page.
I'm the organizer for
The "What Is ...?" Graduate Seminar
(TWIGS); as you may have guessed, in this seminar, the title of
every talk is of type "What Is X?" where X is either an
object, or a theorem, or a problem in mathematics. Please visit the
TWIGS homepage.
I am one of the 4 co-PI's on a half-million dollar NSF-funded
initiative for increasing the number of qualified middle- and
high-school mathematics and science teachers. Students at UMass
Amherst interested in such a career, especially those from
underrepresented groups, are encouraged to apply.
