Hello from Peace Corps! (Posted 9-15-2009)

Hello UMASS! Due to some unfortunate budget cuts UMASS will no longer
have a contract Peace Corps recruiter on-campus; it's truly a loss for
Peace Corps and UMASS alike. I will be taking over the recruitment
duties at UMASS this year, and am armed with two years of Peace Corps
recruitment experience under my belt (specifically western Mass and
Boston area) as well as thoughtful suggestions from Paul Frisoli,
previous on-campus recruiter.
Peace Corps is more competitive this year - please encourage your
students to attend an information session and apply early. Specifically
we need French

\Flyers\Misc\Spanish%20flyer.pdf> speakers, and those with a background
in education

agriculture

environmental <http://www.peacecorps.gov/minisite/environment> , and/or
health <http://www.peacecorps.gov/minisite/health> . (Each link takes
you to subject specific materials.)
I welcome the opportunity to connect with you and your students in away
possible - through class talks, departmental presentations, direct
interaction - please do not hesitate to contact me or send a student my
way! I currently have the following visits scheduled for this semester
- please tell your students!

*There is not a strict deadline for Peace Corps applications; this is
just to encourage students to submit their applications so they can be
interviewed on campus. Also note: applying to Peace Corps takes 9-12
months and does not commit an individual to Peace Corps; a commitment
isn't made for several more steps into the process.
