Internship Opportunities for Actuarial Students (Posted 10-19-2009)
I talked to Carlos Cedenos of INROADS which works a placing diversity
candidates into internships. He's looking for freshmen and sophomores
for "early interships" in the actuarial field.
They don't have to have actuarial training. He'll be doing
a number of interviews for different companies in SOM Oct 27.

As an Actuarial Intern, you'll use your analytical talents to resolve
thought-provoking business problems and bring value to our customers.
You'll work in a collaborative and dynamic work environment where the
challenges are on going. But with our clients training and management
support, you'll be ready.
Responsibilities:
. Participate in the actuarial analysis of the company pricing posture
for each state and develops rate level indications
. Participate in the actuarial analysis and development of premium,
loss and loss expense reserves.
. Assist in the preparation of actuarial support for rate filings.
. Assist in the preparation of special reports and studies.
. Provide technical assistance and information to other departments.
. Assist in the creation and maintenance of computer software and data.
. Pursue actuarial exams.
Qualifications:
. Math and analytical skills; normally acquired through pursuing a
degree in math, statistics or related field.
. Effective oral and written communication skills.
. PC and programming skills desirable in facilitating report
productions.
. Provide technical assistance and information to other departments.
. Completion of first CAS exam desired.
. Minimum 3.5 GPA
