Schlessinger Conditions


Abstract: This will be a very elementary introduction to formal deformation theory. I will give basic examples of local moduli functors and formulate (and try to prove) the Theorem of Schlessinger that gives necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of (formal) versal deformation spaces.
